What is a Mikksu?

What is a Mikksu anyways? It is a new product we now offer on MySpace Karaoke. The basic idea is to have a group of friends each record their version of the same song and mix everyone's track together into an amazing and unique song.

You most likely are asking, "so what's up with the name?" Well, Mikksu is a Japanese pronunciation for Mix, and since this new product is basically a way for you to mix up your friend’s karaoke recordings, we thought why not keep to Karaoke's Japanese roots?

So, now you know what a Mikksu is, but how do you make a Mikksu? Please see the steps below on how to create a Mikksu.

Creating a Mikksu

Step 1: Login
First off you need to have a MySpace Karaoke account.

Step 2: Select a song to "Create a Mikksu"
Then you need to pick the song you'd like to sing with your friends. Once you find your song, hit the "Create a Mikksu" link.

Step 3: Start a Mikksu
You will then be brought to a "Start a Mikksu" pop up screen. This is where you can enter in your friends that you'd like to sing with. You can add up to three people to invite to your Mikksu. You can also determine the order of the Mikksu here. Once you have entered in all the participants email addresses and names, hit "save".

Step 4: Record
Once you hit "save" on the "Start a Mikksu", then you will be brought to the regular MySpace Karaoke player, just as if you were recording a regular solo performance. Record your song and once finished you will be prompted to either listen to your recording, save the recording for the Mikksu or re-record. Save the recording and send it on to your friends in the Mikksu. First you will be asked to determine the song permissions. You can make your individual recording private or public, enable feedback/rating and update your status and mood on Myspace here to let everyone know you just recorded. And now with the new Myspace Twitter Sync you can also update your twitter account as well. Once you hit Save, the recording will start uploading and you will be notified that we have sent the Mikksu invite on to the next person in your Mikksu. Your part is now complete! You can now share this with your friends, hear other member's versions of this song, or record a similar song. But as far as the Mikksu is concerned you now have to wait for your friends to record their part.

Step 5: Invitation
Your friends will receive an email notification asking them to join your Mikksu. You will be notified once your friends record their version so you will always be aware of where the Mikksu is at. And you can even bug your friends about it if they haven't recorded their part yet. After your friend records and hits "save" the recording will then be sent to the next friend in the Mikksu.

Step 6: Review / Publish
Once everyone in your Mikksu has finished recording, you as the organizer will be notified that the Mikksu is ready to be mixed! To see the status of your Mikksu all you need to do is go to your recordings page. You will see all of your recordings including your Mikksu individual recording and the Mikksu version. This way you can listen to just your part on the track, or the entire mikksu once its completed. To check the status of your Mikksu, simply click on "View status". All you need to do now to listen to your Mikksu is to hit "review song" and you will see that you can update the properties of the Mikksu. You can make your Mikksu public or private and can also update your MySpace status with the Mikksu recording as well.

And that's how you create a Mikksu! So get started, find some duets, or just your favorite song that you want to sing with your friends. Maybe you like a particular singer on our site, go on and ask them to sing on a track with you!
